The Perfect Concert Stage

Unique opportunity for organ enthusiast to own this dramatic,
custom designed home nestled on a secluded cul-de sac amongst
mature specimen trees and flowering perennial gardens complete with
stone wall and fish pond.

23 photo's including detailed photo's of 35-rank pipe organ and
professional valuation.

Garo Ray, a broadcasting and television consulting engineer, who made prior to his retirement commercial movies for television, designed and constructed this one-of-a-kind combination church & concert organ and then built this striking 3 bedroom Contemporary Split Level Home around it.

At the far end of the majestic, sunken & vaulted 41x23 living room with curved granite fireplace wall and oversized bay window is the raised concert stage with ample space for a grand piano and a Hammond electric organ, which is playable along with the massive 35-rank low pressure pipe organ from a 3-manual console.

The house was constructed with an organ chamber above the kitchen and dining room areas, speaking into the vaulted ceiling living room through openings high on the living room wall. These openings are screened by a set of pipes which are a working rank, and are as ornamental as they are functional.

This eclectic home offers 2804 square feet of living space including three bedrooms, two plus bathrooms.  Two large work rooms have the potential to be converted into an in-law or au-pair apartment.

Professional valuation:

A three manual (keyboard) pipe organ of approximately 2,100 pipes, 65 speaking registers (stops) derived from 35 sets of pipes plus chimes, xylophone & clochettes.  This console occupies a place on a platform, which is large enough to also hold a full size grand piano, at one end of this 41 x 23 foot living room.  The cathedral ceiling of the living room allows for the dramatic display of the organ popes from the loft opening above the living room floor. The loft is the organ pipe chamber, and is approximately 525 square feet.

This eclectic organ was built over many years by its owner, and has been idle for several years and some restoration will be needed. A separate Moller roll player, with about 75 rolls, was adapted to play the organ by itself.  There are some additional unique features.

The cost of restoring it could run to $25,000 to $50,000, depending on how much work is done (less if the purchaser is a do-it-yourselfer).
